Kew, Happy new year but I did not think it was till next month  . My sigong is down there as 2nd generation and my sifu as 3rd, I guess that makes me 4th gen too, except I am not a certified sifu, more like an assistant instructor at this time. At the moment I am not even sure if I wish to push to the level of sifu in Wing Chun I love the art but at present I am trying to forge a fight carer. I fought before christmas I think I told you about it took second place in the welsh open grapple and strike, I hope to fight again soon the combat sports open trial in herford is on in febuary so i might go for that but the tournement format is a real pain  . However previous winners of the combat sports open trials have gone on to fight in the big leaugues like Mark Weir who even fought in the UFC a couple of times. |

I am sure that your fighting abilities far surpass most of the paper tiger Sifu that I've rolled with and talked about...."Oh I can't spar with you, I may kill you with a death touch". Complete your system of Wing Chun and grow and evolve with your mixed martial arts.

I agree, however, allow your self to recognize the accomplishments that you've earned. That way when you get to an age where you can't do as much you will be able to look back, and not count the trophys, awards, belts, sashes,...these are just dust collectors. You will be able to look back and say that you can identify and validate to yourself your accomplishments. Nothing wrong with that.

That is the reason I compete, its real not just bits of paper or coloured belts but an honest evaluation of the fighting skills I have learned to this point.  |
